So the folks at NOIRLab are doing FREE guided tours of the Gemini North telescope. How cool is that?

They do not provide transportation up the summit though.

Question: How to visit Mauna Kea observatory by car?

Answer: You need a Jeep. Jeeps Wranglers and Gladiators have the true 4-low transfer case needed to SLOW YOU DOWN coming down the Mauna.
We recommend getting one of the all-new 4EX hybrid Jeeps as the engine does a little more to slow you down and it recharges your battery on the way.
